Dubai DIY Tour: Attractions on Route D94 (Jumeirah Road)

Our Dubai DIY Tour via the Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram, and the Old Dubai Walking Tour have been well-received by tourists and residents alike. My heart overflows with joy every time I receive an email or a Facebook message on how this blog was able to help!

The messages and inquiries are my sources of inspiration; hence, I am happy to share another DIY tour. This time in a road lined with magnificent attractions - Jumeirah Road or Route D94

Jumeirah Road attractions
Explore Jumeirah!
Jumeirah Road is away from the metro and the tram, but it can be easily explored via a public bus! There are several buses available; three of which we often use are 8, X28 and C10.

We hop on Bus 8 if we're coming from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station, X28 if we start our journey at City Centre Deira, and C10 if we start in BurJuman. C10 will not cover the whole Jumeirah Road though. It is only until Jumeirah Beach Park which is currently closed due to a development project. Please contact RTA (800 9090) for current bus routes and timings!

Here are the must-see attractions along Jumeirah Road (Jumeirah Open Beach and Jumeirah Beach Park are not included in this post as these public beaches are currently closed):

Jumeirah Mosque
Jumeirah Mosque is an intricately-designed mosque along Jumeirah Road. It is considered to be the most beautiful and the most photographed mosque in Dubai. It is the one of the mosques in the UAE open for non-Muslim visitors.

Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding offers informative tours from Saturday to Thursday every 10am for only 10 AED per person. Please check the official website of SMCCU for more details: Jumeirah Mosque Visit.

Jumeirah Mosque Dubai
Dubai's most photographed mosque is along route D94!

Along D94 is unique shopping destination which exudes a lovely Italian charm! Mercato is a Venetian-inspired shopping mall with a stunning facade and dreamy hallways that resemble pastel-colored Italian homes and piazzas.

This shopping mall isn't just lovely, it is complete with amenities as well. Mercato has a supermarket, a cinema, shops and food outlets. It is also an entertainment venue! Watch out for world-class shows in the atrium during festival season.

Kite Beach
Kite beach is a hot spot for kite surfers and beach bums. It also has a jogging track, showers, changing rooms and good view of Burj Al Arab. Beach-goers wouldn't go hungry in this beach as it the newest informal dining venue in the city. Kite Beach is lined with food shacks and trucks. SALT's vintage food truck, popular with the hashtag #findSALT in Instagram, is parked in the area.

How to get there? Hop off the bus near British Orchard Nursery or Saga World. Walk towards the sea!

Umm Suqeim Public Beach
This public beach is probably the most famous in the UAE, if not in the world! Umm Suqeim Beach offers an unobstructed view of the world's most luxurious hotel - the Burj Al Arab, and is just right beside another iconic structure, the wave-shaped Jumeirah Beach Hotel. It is oftentimes crowded although Umm Suqeim Beach lacks toilet and shower facilities.

How to get there? Alight at Umm Suqeim Park bus stop. Take a happy 5-minute stroll to the coast. You can spot Burj Al Arab on your left. :) Best time to visit: sunset hour!

Jumeirah Beach Hotel
This picturesque hotel resembles a giant wave, an icon that complements the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab. It is one of Dubai's most distinct structure. The unique shape can be adored along Jumeirah Road, but is best seen from the hotel's private beach and from Burj Al Arab's causeway.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel has luxurious accommodations and excellent restaurants. I can highly recommend Latitude restaurant in Jumeirah Beach Hotel's ground floor.

How to get there? Wild Wadi bus stop is just a few steps away from Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

Wild Wadi
Dubai's most-loved water park is also along Jumeirah Road. Wild Wadi is an Arabian-themed water park with multiple interconnected slides, surf simulators, wave pool and water activities for young and old. It is a popular summer destination in Dubai, and is considered to be one of the best water parks in the world! For rates and promotions, please head over to Wild Wadi's official website

How to get there? Hop off at Wild Wadi bus stop. Entrance of the water park is near the gates of Burj Al Arab.

Burj Al Arab
Standing tall along Jumeirah Road is the world-famous Burj Al Arab. As of this writing, Burj Al Arab is the 4th tallest hotel in the world and considered to be the most luxurious! It is fondly classified by the people as a 7-star hotel, although it is officially a 5-star hotel (the highest hotel rating).

Burj Al Arab is restricted to hotel and restaurant guests only. Those who yearn to admire its opulence inside out can book a hotel stay for around 5000+ AED per night or dine in one of the restaurants for 500+ AED per person.

My advice: If you want to dine at Burj Al Arab, watch out for the annual Jumeirah Restaurant Week when restaurants like Junsui in Burj Al Arab offers great discounts; up to 40% the regular rate!

The most popular hotel in the world is along Jumeirah Road!

Madinat Jumeirah
At the end of Jumeirah Road is Madinat Jumeirah - a luxurious complex of hotels, restaurants and shops. Outside, it looks like an ancient Arabian village with a magnificent facade and stunning wind catchers. Souk Madinat, Madinat Jumeirah's shopping center, has the ambiance of a traditional Arabian market place. It has a promenade lined with restaurants overlooking a water canal; perfect for date nights!

How to get there? Get off the bus at Madinat Jumeirah bus stop. Walk towards the imposing structure with wind catchers.

Trip Tips:

  • You can do a walking tour from Umm Suqeim Beach to Madinat Jumeirah during winter! Summer can be very hot and humid; hence I wouldn't recommend long walks, but it's possible when it's almost sunset or at night time!
  • Don't be shy to ask the bus driver about your destination! He'd be happy to drop you in right bus stop!
  • Ensure you have enough balance in your NOL card. Some bus stops in Jumeirah do not have top up stations.
  • Don't forget to bring your camera! :) Have fun! ;)
