Where to get the Best View of Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur

Booked a ticket to Kuala Lumpur? One way or another, you'd probably wonder where the best spots to view the city's famous twin skyscrapers. I mean, it's a travel cliche, but a visit to Malaysia's capital would be incomplete without seeing the majestic and world-famous Petronas Towers

When we had quick stop in KL during our Indochina trip, Ed and I wanted to view the towers both in a picture-postcard angle and in an unusual perspective. So, off we went searching for the perfect location.

Where to view Petronas Towers

Here are some spots in the city with the best view of Petronas Twin Towers.

SkyBar at Traders Hotel
Tucked in the 33rd floor of the swanky Traders Hotel is one of Kuala Lumpur's most popular rooftop bars. The SkyBar has bagged several awards including Asia's Best Bar, and I must say, it also deserves an award for the Best View.

Being there an hour before sunset, we were able to sit in a cabana booth near the window even without reservation. And for our view, we got an unobstructed panorama of the gorgeous skyline in which the twin towers reign! We ordered some drinks and a plate of satay, and hang around until the golden hour. Ahhh! It was perfect!

How to get there? From KL Sentral, we took the LRT Kelana Jaya Line to KLCC station. Then, we walked through Suria KLCC mall and KLCC park, asked around until we saw a building with Traders Hotel name on the facade.
Entrance Fee: Free
Bill for 2 (drinks and starter): 124 MYR or about 110 AED

THE FACE Suites' Infinity Pool
One of the many reasons why I love Instagram is that I always get to see lovely places I never knew about. It is in the mobile app that I came across THE FACE Suites; an all-suite residential accommodation with an infinity pool overlooking Petronas Towers and KL Tower.

Ed and I booked a 1-night stay in a Deluxe Suite and we got to welcome a new day in the pool deck. Seeing the sun slowly rise over the horizon, behind the twin towers, was an amazing experience. Swimming with a view is an added bonus!

How to get there? From the airport, we took an Uber to THE FACE Suites because it's cheaper and more convenient. Nearest monorail station from The FACE Suites is Bukit Nanas.
Rate: During our visit (April 2017), we paid 273 AED for a 1-night stay.

KL Tower
Other than the Petronas Towers, the KL Tower soars in Kuala Lumpur's skyline. At 421m high, it is the 7th tallest tower in the world and the tallest in Southeast Asia.

Going up the KL Tower was actually a last minute decision. We were torn between visiting the observation deck of Petronas Towers or the KL Tower. It was only when Ed learned about KL Tower's Sky Box (a glass box stretching out from the Sky Deck ledge) that we decided to go with the latter.

The KL Tower has two viewing decks; the observation deck 276m above the ground and the sky deck at 300m. We purchased a Sky Deck ticket, giving us access to both decks plus the sky box. There, we got a stunning view of the metropolis and a side view of the Petronas.

How to get there? Nearest stations (Dang Wangi for LRT, and Raja Chulan for Monorail) are around 10 minutes walk to the gate of KL Tower. There is a free shuttle bus from the gate to the tower entrance.
Entrance Fee: Sky Deck (with Sky Box and Observation Deck access): 105 MYR or 92 AED per adult

Conquer your fear at the Sky Box. My advice? Don't look down!

KLCC Park
The 50-acre garden situated at the foot of the Petronas Towers is the most common, yet also one of the best places to see the towers for free! It has a manmade lake with water shows (Think Dubai Fountain, but smaller and in color) at noon and in the evening.

Ed and I went there after watching the sunset from the SkyBar at Traders Hotel. We walked amidst the greenery along a dimly lit path with the twin towers serving as our "Northern Star". We watched a couple of fountain shows, admired the Petronas Towers and took selfies (Of course!) before calling it a night.

How to get there? KLCC Park is in close proximity to Suria KLCC Shopping Mall. Nearest LRT station is KLCC.
