Thirty! Oh my, I just turned Thirty!
Some said I don't look like one. Actually, I barely feel like one. I guess I'm still trapped in a body and mind of a girl in her early twenties. I'm still waiting for the feeling of being 30 to sink in, but I am ready to make more mature decisions now. I am ready to accept whatever life brings, including the wrinkled skin and body fat that comes with ageing.
On the day I turned 30, my husband took me to Petals Restaurant at Rose Rayhaan for a dinner buffet. Though I'm trying to lose few inches in my belly, special occasions have been my excuse to eat more and forget about dieting (for a moment). That night, I didn't care about the calories. All that matter was I am celebrating my special day with my special someone, with delicious seafood waiting for me at the buffet table!
Rose Rayhaan by Rotana is along Sheikh Zayed Road. Standing tall at 333 meters, it has been declared by Guinness Records to be the tallest hotel in the world in 2012.
Petals Restaurant is at Rose Rayhaan's 1st floor. The ambiance was romantic. We were seated at a table with a good view of the busy Sheikh Zayed Road.
Thursday Night is Fisherman's Night at Petals.
There were fresh seafood on display. I didn't bother to ask if we can have some cooked since my eyes were fixed on the grand buffet table.

How I love the decors!
Petals Restaurant was really serious on their Fisherman's Night theme!
Aside from seafood, there were also some chicken and beef dishes.
all the bread which we totally ignored
another heavy dish we avoided: pizza
No matter how I try, I can't say no to this.
got myself 4 different types of sweets
...and there was ice cream with all kinds of toppings as well

Me and my plate of every appetizer that looked delish
I had four trips to the buffet table that night.
I, now, present to you the savory treat I had for myself on my 30th.
Plate#1: prawn cocktail, a piece of mackerel and some salad
Plate#2: (clockwise) prawn curry, seafood marinara pasta, seafood thermidor
and vegetable ratatouille
Plate#3: roasted chicken and beef tenderloin with steamed rice
Plate#4 is a heaven of goodness! I can't remember the name of each dessert,
but I can tell you, all were lusciously yummy.
The buffet costs 155 AED per person.
We got 25% discount since we booked our dinner at http://www.roundmenu.com/.
There are different themes every night. I'm eyeing on Wednesday Night's Flavours of Asia Theme. I'm just waiting for another special occasion to have another guilt-free buffet dinner.
