One Night Stay at the Tallest Hotel in the World

It was October last year when Ed surprised me with an overnight stay at the tallest hotel in the world. He is not a big spender, but I usually get super spoiled during special occasions. And during that time, we were celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary.

Just a little trivia, the Top 4 tallest hotels in the world are all located in Dubai! Awesome, right? The most staggering of them all, JW Marriott Marquis, is a 1,100 ft twin-tower business hotel. It is impressively standing along Sheikh Zayed Road, cladded in blue glass panels and crowned with a striking design at the topmost floor!

Dubai Budget Trip: Where to Stay, Where to Go, Where to Eat

Dubai and Budget are two words that may not seem to go along very well. People have associated Dubai with ultra-luxurious lifestyle, the 7-star hotel and the world's tallest skyscraper that it scares the budget savvy travelers.

I've been here for 7 years and I can say that Dubai is not a cheap travel destination if you want to experience the glitz and glamour that it is famous for. But, there are ways on how you can appreciate its wonders without breaking the bank.

Old Dubai Do-It-Yourself Walking Tour

A lavish urban getaway or a rich cultural experience? You can have the best of both worlds in Dubai! Apart from the awe-inspiring megastructures, Dubai is also known for its well-preserved historical sites. The city's culture and traditions can be strongly felt in its HEART; right in the bank of the saltwater creek where all the success stories started.

Romantic Weekend Escape at The Cove Rotana - Day 1

Ed and I felt it was just right to celebrate Lady and her Sweet Escapes' first blogversary by an escape from the chaotic city life. Since we were too caught up with a long-term goal, a trip abroad was out of the picture. Instead, we decided to have a mini-vacation within the UAE, but in a place that can magically make us feel like we are out of the country. With that magical getaway in mind, The Cove Rotana in Ras Al Khaimah was the first and only resort that I could think of.

With idyllic water inlets and a long stretch of pristine beach on a prime location adjacent to the Arabian Gulf, The Cove Rotana is breathtaking, unique and romantic. It is perfectly made for sweet escapes as it resembles a beautiful Mediterranean village by the sea.  In fact, The Cove Rotana is one of the recipients of the prestigious Signum Virtus (Seal of Excellence) from the 2013 Seven Star Global Luxury Award; an honor given to the creme de la creme of hospitality and lifestyle companies around the globe!

The Lucky Juans: First Batch of UWInners

By now, you have probably heard the great news! You have read the contest mechanics and have probably submitted an entry or two already! Clueless? Then you must have been too busy at work, or have been anti-social(?!), or have been living in a cave(duh!). Seriously, if you haven't checked the news feed lately, here's something every Filipino Expat in the UAE should know: Cebu Pacific is giving away 100 Dubai-Manila round trip tickets! If you are a Kapuso (GMA Pinoy TV Subscriber) and a huge fan of Cebu Pacific Air, all you have to do is to join the 100 Lucky Juans contest at Cebu Pacific's Official Facebook Page for a chance to fly home for free.

My Favorite "Juans"

I was browsing the entries for Cebu Pacific's 100 Lucky Juans contest in Facebook a while ago, and I must say that all participants really did an awesome job! I adored the creative artworks and even shed some tears while reading the touching stories of my fellow OFWs in United Arab Emirates! I have read about longing for home and sacrifices of being away. I actually saw a piece of me in most entries. Kudos to all participants!

The Dubai Fountain

There are a lot of musical fountains in the UAE, yet the Dubai Fountain at Burj Lake in Downtown Dubai remains to be the most astonishing of them all. California-based WET, the creators of the Bellagio fountain in Las Vegas, designed the Dubai Fountain. It is the world's largest dancing fountain with a length of 900 ft and has nozzles capable to shoot water sprays up to 500 ft high

When my husband and I were newbies in Dubai, we wanted to go to Dubai Mall every weekend just to watch the fountain show. It somehow eased the homesickness and helped us chase the blues away. Worries were forgotten as the water started to dance in graceful and whimsical ways. We have watched the show in every angle; from Dubai Mall, from Souk Al Bahar, from Burj Park, from Burj Khalifa and we even had an aerial view from a restaurant's terrace.

Superman-Wannabe at iFLY Dubai

I am not the storyteller for today because I have a guest who wants to share an awesome experience! :) He is a dare devil, a big fan of everything extreme. He is my travel buddy, my tech support and my partner-in-whatever. He has written a post before and I'm so glad he agreed to write for my blog again. I think you know who he is! I, now, present to you my guest blogger for today... drum roll... my husband, Ed! :)  -Lady

I think most of us have dreamed of being able to fly, to be like Superman, soaring from one place to another. In iFLY Dubai, I was able to be like Superman, minus the cape! iFLY Dubai at Mirdif City Centre is an indoor Skydiving simulator which allows a person to fly inside a tunnel, a first of its kind in the UAE. As they say, it is a preparation to Skydiving (which I’m planning to cross out on my bucket list someday)!

Chillout: The Coolest Lounge in Town

There is a lounge in Dubai where you can chill and feel the chills! Chillout, pronounced as 'chill out', is a bar/cafe where everything is made of ice; from tables and chairs to decorations. We have been to Chillout 2 years ago, I didn't had a blog back then. Their promotional deal was back at Cobone late last year, that reminded me of our unique afternoon date. Since today is Thursday, I'm taking a break on my usual Insta-pic  of the Week post, here's a Throwback Thursday post on Chillout instead. :)
