Vii Love Sushi

It seems like yesterday when my blogger beshie Myla and I went to Vii Dubai for EnVii Ladies Night. I can still remember how much I loved the lush foliage at the terrace. Vii is a bar and lounge, but it has that romantic vibe that made me want to go back with Ed the soonest.

I startled when I realized that our girls night out happened a long time ago; not last year, but almost two years back! How quickly time flies!

I wasn't able to go back to Vii with Ed in an instant, but the right time came a day before Valentine's this year.

EnVii Ladies Night at Vii Dubai

I'm not a bar/club person. As you can see in this blog, my only way of chilling out is a good proper dinner in a quiet restaurant with my husband. Hence, I have never enjoyed the infamous "Ladies Night" in Dubai, not until I discovered Vii Dubai in Conrad Hotel.

Vii is something special. It has a lush secret garden tucked in the 7th floor of Conrad in Sheikh Zayed Road. I have never seen anything like it before, so when I heard about EnVii - Vii Dubai's exclusive ladies night, I spontaneously sent an sms to one of my blogger friends. It was merely a day before Tuesday, and I'm sooo glad she was intrigued with Vii Dubai as I am!

Zaroob: Funky Levant Street Eatery

The bright neon signs, the strings of light bulbs and the bizarre pushcart have caught my attention several times while I'm in Sheikh Zayed Road. That spot is too quirky and it stood out from everything along the busy highway. It sure is an eye-magnet, but I never felt the need to check what it is. Neon lights are a bit odd for my liking!

Early this year, I saw a photo of a restaurant with hanging paper lanterns, pink handrails and graffiti walls. I swooned over the eccentric clutter, so I went searching and discovered that it is a Levant Street Eatery called Zaroob. I was taken aback when I learned that it has hot pink and lime green tube signs plastered on its facade. Yep, it's exactly the same neon signs that I found weird along E11 highway!

International Iftar Buffet at Millennium Plaza Hotel

Since the work hours are reduced to six and I'm having more morning shifts this Ramadan, I had the pleasure of attending the Media Iftar at Millennium Plaza Hotel last Thursday. Honestly, the word 'media' send shivers down my spine. Though I've been blogging for almost two years now, I still get a little shy around the real media people, but I just couldn't let the invitation pass. I love Iftars! I love dining at restaurants I haven't been to! And once and for all, I'd love to overcome timidity! :)

At sunset, Ed and I approached the concierge at the lavish lobby of Millennium Plaza Hotel at Sheikh Zayed Road. A staff then guided us to Metro! restaurant at the 5th floor where we were warmly greeted by the hosts. There was a very welcoming table of dates, nuts and dried fruits at the entrance; a wonderful sight for both fasting and non-fasting guests!

Late Date Night at Applebee's

Weeks back, I rendered extra hours at work and missed a scheduled date night with my husband. Ed was already in dreamland when I went home. I eventually woke him up, so I asked if he still wants to go out. It was 10:30 pm, by then the restaurants at the mall nearby were about to close. We decided to check the restaurants along Sheikh Zayed Road, where food outlets are open until 2 am.

An hour before midnight, we hailed a taxi and and head straight to Applebee's. Surprisingly, the restaurant was still packed when we arrived and we still need to sign up on the waiting list.

Breakfast at Tim Hortons

Our cruise trip was cancelled a day before Eid Al Fitr (a Muslim holiday). At 7:30am, I was already wide awake and on a holiday-mode. Wondering what else to do on a non-working day, I remembered having Tim Hortons' gift vouchers from my cousin. FYI, Tim Hortons has been our latest favorite cafe and bake shop for afternoon coffee breaks. I have been dying to try their breakfast sandwiches. That once-in-a-blue-moon moment, a holiday without any plans, turned out to be the right time for us to check what Tim's can offer for breakfast.

Ed and I headed to the train station and rode a train to Financial Center, where the nearest Tim Hortons cafe is located from our place.
