Bluewaters Island: What's in the newest island in Dubai?

Set to be the tallest observation wheel in the world, I have watched Ain Dubai slowly taking shape for years! The giant ferris wheel is still under construction, but the man-made island where it proudly stands has already been opened to the public last winter.

It is called Bluewaters Island, and oh-em-gee, it looks gorgeous!

How on point is The Pointe in Dubai?

I haven't been going out lately. I know I'm missing on a lot of new things in Dubai and this blog has dried up on new information. No FOMO and no apologies here though as I have personal -valid- reasons. ;) But I wouldn't deny, I've been dying to visit those cool new places popping on my Instagram feed.

On top of my list is The Pointe.

Beach Day in La Mer Dubai

I was one of the many people who got sad and shocked when Jumeirah Open Beach was closed to the public. Remember my 5 Reasons Why I Love Jumeirah Open Beach blog post five years ago? It was my favorite beach way back then.

Little did I know, my fave beach was not taken away from me and the rest of the beach-lovin population for good. It was closed for sometime to make way for a new beachfront property.

Our beloved open beach was changed for the better, and it is now called La Mer!

The Enchanted Riverland in Dubai

In a land far far away lies a quaint little town nestled on the banks of a winding river. It is a picturesque medieval village with adorable houses and cobblestone streets. Wizards roam. Puppet animals talk. Princesses sing.

No, this is not a fairy tale.

I'm talking about Riverland in Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Sunset Stroll along Dubai Water Canal

Three years ago, I woke up to a news about the expansion of Dubai Creek that will make Bur Dubai an island. Then, last year, I realized it was slowly taking shape as Sheikh Zayed Road already has a bridge! And this year, my Facebook feed was flooded with updates on the mega-project that is now known as the Dubai Water Canal

The newest Dubai wonder was three years in the making. It was finally inaugurated last month with a BIG celebration... so big and so grand that they actually had to close a portion of Dubai's busiest highway during the ceremony!

I didn't get to witness the spectacular fireworks during the inauguration. In fact, life has been pretty busy that I only had the chance to see Dubai's latest attraction a month after it opened! I guess I'm the last person to visit Dubai Water Canal for the first time, but let me share my experience anyway! :)

Amazing Street Art in Karama

Ed and I were residents of Karama for the longest time before we decided to relocate in Deira last year. If not for the convenience of living near my new workplace, we could still be in K-town (as my blogger friend Ken Surat fondly calls Karama neighborhood).

Karama grew so much on us. Hence, we are always ecstatic every time we hear developments in the district we previously called home; like the opening of Carrefour, Vox Cinema and Jollibee (Hahah!) in a shopping mall nearby!

Recently, we were surprised with the unveiling of the street art installation in Karama Souk! I have to admit, the souk area is not my favorite in the neighborhood. But the impressive murals made me want to revisit the narrow alleys of fake designer bags and clothes. So, off we went!

The Mermaid Show at The Dubai Mall

When I was little, I was so fond of Disney movies and Disney Princesses. If you ask me what my favorite Disney movie is, I'd immediately answer 'The Little Mermaid'. I grew up wanting to be Ariel. I knew every line of the song 'Part Of Your World'. I used to act like I have a mermaid tail every time I was in a pool, whether it's a big resort pool or a small inflatable one, though I wasn't really a good swimmer! :)

I was and will always be fascinated with mermaids! That's why, I was excited when I learned that there's a free mermaid show at The Dubai Mall. The show is held at Dubai Aquarium, the holder of Guinness World Record's largest acrylic panel!

Free Attractions and Cheap Thrills in Dubai

When a budget airline announced their daily direct flights from Manila to Dubai, I wasn't the only one who's overjoyed. My family and friends in the Philippines were so excited about it as well. In fact, most of them are already planning to visit Dubai soon. Since travelling to Dubai is already cheaper, their only concern is how to enjoy the city even on a budget!

Dubai may be a city of glitz and glamour, but it is definitely possible to have fun without spending a fortune!
