Yellow Cab, UAE's newest import from the Philippines, is a well-loved pizza chain back home. I have been a fan ever since a branch opened in SM Bacolod, which apparently became a constant date night venue for me and Ed. 

You can tell how excited we were when we first heard about the opening of Yellow Cab in Dubai. The first branch is located in Satwa, quite far from home and not accessible by metro; hence it took us awhile to pay a visit. Early this month, we came to know that we don't need to go to Satwa to grab our fave New York's Finest signature pizza as the branch across in BurJuman Centre has finally opened its doors!

Amazing Street Art in Karama

Ed and I were residents of Karama for the longest time before we decided to relocate in Deira last year. If not for the convenience of living near my new workplace, we could still be in K-town (as my blogger friend Ken Surat fondly calls Karama neighborhood).

Karama grew so much on us. Hence, we are always ecstatic every time we hear developments in the district we previously called home; like the opening of Carrefour, Vox Cinema and Jollibee (Hahah!) in a shopping mall nearby! 

Recently, we were surprised with the unveiling of the street art installation in Karama Souk! I have to admit, the souk area is not my favorite in the neighborhood. But the impressive murals made me want to revisit the narrow alleys of fake designer bags and clothes. So, off we went!

Carinderia ni Tandang Sora has an all-new branch in Karama. I think most Filipinos in Dubai are already familiar with this humble Filipino eatery. I have been to their Deira branch a few times for dinner and there was never a time it was empty. Hence, the opening of the bigger branch in Karama is a wonderful news.

Kris with a View: Fine Dining with a View at Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel

I've heard great things about Park Regis Kris Kin, from the annual New Year's Eve countdown party at the rooftop pool bar to the delectable Pan-Asian cuisine being served in the restaurants. So, last Saturday, I was really excited when we were whisked away to the 19th floor of the fancy five star hotel within our neighborhood. Yah, we live a hundred and one steps away (or maybe a little more), but we have never been there before. Shame, I know. 

Ed and I were cordially invited to dine at the hotel's flagship restaurant, Kris with a View, to try the new menu that has just been launched by Chef Rong Wei. And it was then that we noticed how lovelier our beloved Karama can be from up above, and how wrong I was to seek for a fancy Asian meal somewhere else when I can have it in the comforts of my own neighborhood!

Fried Chicken and more at Max's Restaurant

A few days from now, Ed and I will be saying goodbye to the neighborhood that grew so much on us. Due to new endeavors, we will be leaving Karama and will be calling Deira our home district. I am excited, but relocating is quite difficult. It's not just because we have tons of stuff to pack. I also have to deal with some emotional attachment. 

I am a true blue foodie, hence I will surely miss being a few steps away from my favorite restaurants. Others may find this shallow, but mababaw ang kaligayahan ko eh. :) I love spontaneity, and here I can easily say "I'm craving for fried chicken today. Let's go to Max's." And off we will go for a stroll to one of our favorite Filipino restaurants across the street. I know I could easily satisfy my craving via food delivery when we transfer, but for me, Max's Fried Chicken is best enjoyed with warm Filipino hospitality and that hearty laughter that echoes time and again in the restaurant.

A Bucket of Joy at Seafood in a Bucket

The last time I had a plastic bib on and devoured delicious crab in a shallow metal bucket, our date night bill went up to a whopping 200 AED... and even more if we didn't use a buy1get1 voucher! Then, a couple of weeks ago, I discovered a new seafood restaurant with almost the same unique concept, but with more affordable items on the menu! Imagine, a deep bucket full of sweet chili crabs for just 21 AED! 

Seafood in a Bucket is a new concept brought by ASAP in House Restaurant in Karama. Though the restaurant is not visible along the main road, it is the power of social media that has made every seafood-lover searching for this latest dine-out spot.

Lunch at Bacolod Chk-n-BBQ House

A lot of Filipino restaurants in Dubai have chicken inasal on their menu, but nothing comes close to the authentic. I can honestly say that my expectations are very high when it comes to this native dish, most probably because I grew up having inasal on my plate almost every other weekend! For us Negrenses living abroad, chicken inasal is a comfort food. It reminds us of home. That is the reason why I was extremely happy when I discovered that Bacolod Chk-n-BBQ House has recently opened their doors in Karama. Since it carries 'Bacolod' in its name, this newly-opened restaurant brings so much hope and joy to everyone who seek for the "real thing" miles away from home.

While I was patiently waiting for the weekend (and the payday), I followed the restaurant's Facebook and Instagram accounts; drooled on every food photo and shared the craving to my friends. I never thought that the sincere LIKES on Instagram and the simple SHARE on Facebook could make me Bacolod Chk-n-BBQ House's Fan of the Week, and that entitled me to have a dish for free! :)
