24th St: Where Street Food meets Fine Dining

Being a fan of Dusit Thani Dubai's dining venues, I had mixed emotions when I heard PAX Italian restaurant will be closed down to give way to a fresh concept. I do love that restaurant, but fresh is good and I trust that it's all for the better.

So, when I saw that the new restaurant - 24th St. Asian Street Food - is finally open, it was more of excitement that rolled over me.

Junsui: Pure Asian Restaurant in Burj Al Arab

"If I were to dine at Burj Al Arab, I'd dine in Junsui." That's the thought I've been keeping to myself for several years just in case the husband would ask me out on a date to the 7-star hotel. :)

Although the Afternoon Tea at the Skyview Bar is well-recommended and Al Mahara is the most popular for date nights, I'd still go with the Far-East Asian buffet that Junsui caters. With the staggering prices, I honestly think buffet-dining offers the best value for money!

So, when Jumeirah Restaurant Week 2015 came, my husband and I agreed to book a weekend dinner in Junsui; an Asian restaurant studded with thousands of Swarovski crystals at the Ground Mezzanine level of the world's most luxurious hotel!

Kris with a View: Fine Dining with a View at Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel

I've heard great things about Park Regis Kris Kin, from the annual New Year's Eve countdown party at the rooftop pool bar to the delectable Pan-Asian cuisine being served in the restaurants. So, last Saturday, I was really excited when we were whisked away to the 19th floor of the fancy five star hotel within our neighborhood. Yah, we live a hundred and one steps away (or maybe a little more), but we have never been there before. Shame, I know.

Ed and I were cordially invited to dine at the hotel's flagship restaurant, Kris with a View, to try the new menu that has just been launched by Chef Rong Wei. And it was then that we noticed how lovelier our beloved Karama can be from up above, and how wrong I was to seek for a fancy Asian meal somewhere else when I can have it in the comforts of my own neighborhood!

Unlimited Tasting Night at Shanghai Chic in Movenpick Ibn Battuta Gate

I remember those days when I had to cross the pedestrian lane from Ibn Batutta metro station to the shopping mall but couldn't keep my eyes off the imposing structure on my far right, those days when I had to stop at the grassy area just for a photo of the luxurious facade with a grand arch. By merely staring at its grandeur from afar, I was pretty sure inside of it are gems, I mean perfect date night venues, I must discover.

Last weekend, the astonishment happened again. I kept my eyes fixed at Movenpick Hotel Ibn Battuta Gate, but I was no longer in the middle of the street or at the lawn. I was finally walking towards it, hoping my first impression is right, wishing I'd find a new culinary gem to love.

Chimes: Crab Fest and Dishes from the Far East

I love October! This time of the year is typically jampacked with awesomeness! :) Other than getting a year older and celebrating a journey to forever, October is filled with wonderful events. Just to name a few, there's the Oktoberfest funfair, the spooky Halloween parties and the annual Crab Fest at Chimes!

For seafood lovers, Crab and Festival are two words that goes so well together. Think about succulent crab meat drizzled with scrumptious special sauce at a bargain price! So, the weekend after our short sweet escape in North India, Ed and I returned to Chimes; our crab haven in Al Barsha!

Chop Suey: Hearty California Chinese Cuisine

Next to Filipino food, Chinese cuisine is a source of comfort whenever I'm dealing with homesickness blues. I don't know why, but duck slices and dumplings can release a certain feel-good energy! Much to my delight, I received an invitation in the middle of a busy workweek for a media lunch at Chop Suey, a new Chinese restaurant in Jumeirah. Though the restaurant's location is a long bus ride away from home and the work place, I just couldn't afford to miss the event. The foodie in me was elated with the California Chinese concept and the stressed-out body was in dire need  of comfort food!

Chop Suey is a brainchild of Diana and Dina; best of friends who have the passion for food and cooking. Though they enjoyed Dubai's culinary diversity, they both missed the no-fuss California style Chinese restaurant where they can have a fun and relaxed meal with their families. Thus, Chop Suey came to life! December 2013, they launched a casual dining hot spot offering healthy and wholesome California Chinese classics, the Chinese food we all expect to love, at Beach Park Plaza. Chop Suey only uses the freshest ingredients, low sodium products and absolutely no MSG

Soy and Pepper: Asian Cuisine with a Twist

Dubai offers an extensive variety of cuisines, but there's always a point when I want nothing but a good ol' Filipino meal. Since my kitchen prowess is very limited, Ed and I would dine out whenever we crave for a special dish from home. It is very heart-warming to see new Filipino restaurants in  this culturally diverse city. The more options we have, the merrier!

Recently, I stumbled across a new Asian restaurant specializing in Filipino cuisine. Soy and Pepper in Reef Mall seems like another restaurant to love as two of my blogger friends already posted that it could be the next big thing in town. So there I was, drooling over Soy and Pepper's chicken sisig on Instagram, wanting to try it the soonest. Surprisingly, on the very same day that Soy and Pepper lured me through a microblogging site, an invitation to dine at the restaurant arrived in my Facebook Page's inbox! I guess it's really true that when you want something, the universe conspires to make it happen... and when you get lucky, it happens in just a snap! :) I accepted the invite with a big grin on my face and the thoughts of chicken sisig still in my head.

Asian Buffet at Intramuros Restaurant Dubai

Since last year, a lot of people were directed to this blog while googling for Intramuros Restaurant in Dubai. Those people were probably disappointed when they realize that my blog's best friend, Mr. Google, gave them a post about the historical site in the Philippines and not the restaurant! I know I should put the blame to my blog's best friend and just laugh out loud on the additional traffic, but the truth is, I actually felt sorry for not giving my blog's visitors what they really need. #peoplepleaserBlogger? Yah, kind of. I'm a happy blogger, so I want my readers to leave my website happy as well! I aim to please! Hahah! :)

The good news is, I was finally able to dine at Intramuros last week! I was very delighted when my work buddies told me that our once-in-a-blue-moon weekend get together will be in a restaurant I have been meaning to try. I had to choose it over a media event (Red Bull Air Race concert) as I wouldn't want to miss a stress free, eat-all-you-can, night with the best workmates in the world!

Not Just Another Date Night at The Noodle House

It's no secret how much I love The Noodle House. As I have shared on a blog post before, it is a restaurant close to my heart as I had a lot of memorable dining experiences at their BurJuman and Souk Madinat branches. Recently, I followed the well-loved restaurant on Instagram and discovered a cool competition for their avid followers. All I needed to do was to post a photo of what I ate at The Noodle House, tag @thenoodlehousedubai and hashtag #tnhwin. It was an easy peasy task for me since I am an IG-addict and a hashtag-overuser!  :)

A week after I posted my entry, I woke up to a notification from The Noodle House. I won!!! OMG, I won! Sorry if it seems like I'm over reacting, but hey it's a meal from The Noodle House! I'd gladly accept anything from my favorite Asian restaurant! As The Noodle House in BurJuman is a constant date night venue, Ed and I opted to claim my prize at Jumeirah Emirates Towers for a change.

Sizzlin' Asian Cuisine at Sizzling Wok

When Ed and I were invited to the 2nd Anniversary celebration of The Huddle Sports Bar and Grill last year, another restaurant at Citymax Hotel caught our attention. No one can miss Sizzling Wok's vibrant Oriental decorations, especially the Chinese lanterns and the vivid red banners which are inspired by Asian and Far Eastern prayer flags. Sizzling Wok looks very inviting even from afar, so we had it listed on our "restaurants to try".

Last week, we finally found ourselves walking beneath the bright banners. After passing through the vibrant entrance, I was amused to see a subtle and elegantly decorated interior. Sizzling Wok has soft dim lights, delicate furniture and a classic oriental charm.
